In September, when Kaktos Rose and Sport Hooks wanted to increase online sales, we recommended a media relations campaign based on gift guides. Reporters and bloggers need items for these popular guides along with high-resolution photos to accompany the item. Online gift guides are good for search engine optimization too since the client’s website is included in the coverage. Each reporter wanted a sample of the product, so every week we were preparing the press kit while the client was pulling product for us to ship. The good news is the response to our pitches was overwhelming. The bad news is our client could not keep up the demands of the reporters’ requests, therefore the number of stories was less and sales did not increase.
