TFNB Names Veterans One Stop Charity ChampionMCGREGOR, TX TFNB Your Bank for Life announced today that The Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop has been selected a Charity Champion.

As a Charity Champion, the bank will publicize information about the non-profit including their current needs. Veterans One Stop would like to build a “living memorial” that will serve as a place for veterans to reflect and relax while utilizing the organization’s various services.

From more than 40 nominations, TFNB’s staff selected Veterans One Stop for the services it provides military families as they navigate the various issues facing our nation’s veterans.  When asked why Veterans One Stop should be a Charity Champion, a volunteer wrote:

There are licensed counselors, service organizations and a legal aid clinic. There’s a game room, a library and a big-screen TV. There is a chapel/meditation area…Healing and hope are found in these rooms. Relationships are nurtured over games of pool and plates of food. Lives are reassembled and made whole again.

For the “living memorial,” Veterans One Stop is seeking donations of materials and/or cash to build the garden, which would have above-ground flower and vegetable beds. The estimated cost of the memorial is $30,000.

“The exposure from being selected a Charity of Champion winner will no doubt assist us in getting the word to veterans and their families that we are here to serve them as they served us,” said DeLisa Duncan Russell, director of Veterans One Stop. “We salute TFNB for standing with us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of those who sacrificed so much for us and this great nation we live in.”

Veterans One Stop will be presented the Charity Champions’ award during the Northwestern vs. Baylor football game today.  In addition to a marketing campaign, the organization will participate in leadership development training by 360 Solutions, both funded by TFNB.

Veterans One Stop joins other Charity Champions from 2014 and 2015:  CASA of McLennan & Hill Counties, AVANCE Waco, Generations Adoptions, Waco Habitat for Humanity, Family Abuse Center, Meals & Wheels Waco, Methodist Children’s Home, Care Net, Advocacy Center, Caritas, Mission Waco, and Central Texas Humane Society.
